    "Jane and Minnie Nehrenz"

From the Editor Dave Nehrenz:

Greetings from Oklahoma! The extensive Nehrenz family continues to grow in number all across the country. The network is alive and well through continued correspondence and the Internet.

This issue will share the information we have about the family lineage of the two Nehrenz sisters, Jane and Minnie Nehrenz. They were the only two daughters from among the seven children of Johann Christian and Mary Nehrenz (who are the ancestors of ALL the Nehrenzs in the USA!).

 Jane Nehrenz married Charles Beier.  Minnie Nehrenz married Herman Martens. There are no known photographs of either of these couples. We do have a few pictures of some of their children.

We do not know if these families have any living descendants today. More research has to be done in order to trace their lines. Since the surnames Beier and Martens are more common than Nehrenz, it will also be more difficult to determine any living descendants.

Notes for GEORGE W. BEIER:

On death certificate for his mother Johanna Beier living at 2930 W. 12th St, 7 ward, the informant was her son George W. Beier who lived with her at 2930 W. 12th St.

 

Informant on his death certificate was: Mrs.? Karl H. Kolbe   1121 Lincoln Ave. who didn't know George's mother's maiden name, but knew his father was Chas. Beier and that both were born in Germany. George was 42 years old at death.

2.  OTTO3 BEIER (CHARLES JOHANN FRIEDRICH "KARL"2, WILHELM1) was born August 13, 1877 in Cleveland, OH, and died November 18, 1929 in Cleveland, OH.  He married MARIA "MARNIE" SCHUELKE, daughter of MR. SCHULKE and MISS ?.  She was born 1879 in Ohio.

In 1880 census: Otto Beyer, age 3, son of Chas. and Johanna Beyer, living with them and his grandparents Christian and Marie Nehrenz and uncle Henry.

In the 1910 census, Cleveland-Cuyahoga County taken on April 15th, 1910 #268- Otto Beyer lived at 3718 Spokane Ave. and was 7th family numbered.

Otto-head, age 32, married 8 years, born in Ohio, father and mother born in Germany,  speaks English, works as bookkeeper for Pwing Co. owned home, mortgage, 10 years, 5--X-1

Also called "Ottilie Schuelke" on May 03, 1903 was sponsor for for Carl Lorenz Beier.

1910 census: married living with husband Otto: 3718 Spokane St.  wife, 31 years old, married 8 years, mother of 4 children, only 3 living,born in Ohio, both parents born in Germany, yes can read, write, speak English.

She was a widow in 1930 and had her two  sons living with her: Walter and Victor, and a boarder named Leon Walters who was 37 years old, single, Code ABC-59; Code D-4590; was working as a salesman in a furniture store and was in the military in W.W. I.

In 1939, Percy and Lucy made a train trip to NYC to go to the World's Fair. On their return to Wisconsin, they stopped in Cleveland, Ohio and stayed overnight at the home of Mary Nehrenz, wife of Henry Nehrenz, she was already a widow at the time.

 

While there, they took some photographs of: "Aunt" Mary Nehrenz at 2080 Wyandotte and 1610 Wyandotte  Lakewood, Ohio with Anna Nehrenz (Mary's daughter), Percy and Lucy Nehrenz,

Aunt Mary's sister Anna Rupprecht, also Carl Beier son of Jane Nehrenz Beier? or is he Carl Nehrenz son of Christian Nehrenz and Emma Martens daughter of Minnie Nehrenz Martens Carrie Nehrenz wife of William Ernest Nehrenz (son of Frederick Nehrenz) and a woman named Norma and a woman named Lydia (Stass? or Glawe?) also a woman named Florence possibly Scholaske wife of Walter Edward Schaloske (he was a son of Bertha Nehrenz Schaloske who was a daughter of Christian Nehrenz)

 

Also a picture at 3327 Daisy Ave. Cleveland, OH with Emma Martens daughter of Minnie Nehrenz Martens and Hannah Martens daughter of Minnie Nehrenz Martens (these were Percy's two aunts) with Percy Nehrenz.

OTHER NEHRENZ  NEWS OF INTEREST

Various Nehrenz families host Reunions in the summer. In June 2004 there was the Clyde and Ruth Nehrenz Family Reunion at Buck Creek State Park in Ohio. This family includes 48 people:  Clyde and Ruth, their eight children, their eight children-in-law, and their thirty grandchildren.
