The Nehrenz’s were originally farmers and day-laborers. By religion, they were Lutherans and were initially members of the Trinity Lutheran Church on W. 25th Street in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
They lived in German neighborhoods around Wade and Scranton Roads. Some of the homes in which they lived still stand today. Many of their tombstones can also be viewed.
Known to be both musical and artistic, later professions would include welders, railroad workers, teachers, pastors, dentists, physicians, telegraph operators, clerks, and other vocations and trades.
